Black Phantom by By Kilian (2017) is a dark gourmand?vanilla fragrance for both men and women. It leans heavily into rich, boozy sweetness—rum, sugar, coffee—and contrasts that with bitter, smoky facets to create something mysterious, indulgent, and intense. The idea is decadence with an edge: comfort and heat, but also depth and intrigue.

Note Structure

Top notes: Rum — deep, boozy, almost intoxicating; a dramatic opening.
Heart (middle): Coffee, Dark Chocolate, Almond, Heliotrope — creamy decadence, bitter chocolate, nutty almond sweetness, and soft floral heliotrope floating underneath.
Base notes: Caramel, Sugar Cane, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Vetiver — warm and sweet with woods and resin bringing balance and persistence.

Evolution and Experience
On first spray, you’re hit with the rum and sugar—sweet, slightly sticky, very gourmand. Coffee and chocolate emerge quickly, adding depth and bitterness that offset the sweetness. Almond and heliotrope give a smooth, slightly floral?nutty softness. As it dries down, the woods come forward: creamy sandalwood, vanilla, and tonka soften things, while the vetiver brings in a whisper of earth to prevent it from being purely sweet.
