Description
Launch & Designers
Invictus was launched in 2013 by Paco Rabanne. The perfumers involved include Véronique Nyberg, Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge, and Dominique Ropion.Olfactory Profile / Notes
Top (opening): Sea notes (marine accord), grapefruit, mandarin orange. Right away it gives off salty‑ocean spray freshness and juicy citrus.
Heart (middle): Bay leaf (or laurel) and jasmine. These bring a slight herbal aromatic character alongside soft florals.
Base (dry‑down): Ambergris, guaiac wood, oakmoss, and patchouli. These woods and resins deepen the scent, adding warmth, earthiness, and depth as the fragrance fades.
Scent Evolution & Feel
At the start, Invictus feels very bright: citrusy and marine, almost like a crisp ocean breeze mixed with fresh grapefruit. As it develops, the aromatic bay leaf and jasmine provide a green/herbal floral interpulse, adding complexity. In the later dry‑down, the woods, patchouli, ambergris, and oakmoss give a warm, slightly sweet, musky, and earthy trail. It maintains freshness, but gets more grounded.Longevity & Projection
Many reviews say it performs decently: good projection and sillage at first, then gradually becoming more intimate with wear. On skin, expect several hours of presence; on clothing or fabric, the fragrance lingers longer.Vibe, Best Use & Occasions
This is a fragrance with a sporty, energetic, youthful vibe. Great for daytime, casual wear, outdoors, especially in warmer weather — spring and summer suit it well. It can work for more social settings too, but is less formal. Ideal when you want something clean, confident, and lively.Character & Considerations
It’s not ultra‑niche or “gourmand” or highly unusual — more of a designer hit, meant for broad appeal. Some find the synthetic marine and citrus notes sharp; others appreciate them as part of the charm. It’s not overly complicated, but balanced enough to be pleasant and versatile. Also, depending on batch and how much you apply, the woods in the base can feel more or less close to skin.
